Gamma Cassiopeiae B

Gamma Cassiopeiae is the star at the center of Cassiopeia’s W, about 550 light-years away. In 1866, Angelo Secchi saw emission lines in its spectrum, the first star ever observed with them, and it is now the prototype of a class of variable Be stars. Together with a nearby companion system, it may contain eight stars.
